Tony has been doing such a wonderful job on this editions, for all these years, that when I received his mail I knew I had to pass over the news to whoever enters this blog.

It's been a while (years!) since I logged in and it's been surprising to see the stats on this inactive account. I though that Facebook replaced the need for a blog like this, but also I believed this blog functioned as a great vault of George Pérez images, so I let it online. Aparently many people agree with it and it makes me happy.

Maybe I'll start posting again, maybe not. I'm still a hardcore Pérez fan and keep well aware of news relating to him. He has been retired for a few years not, but there's always new art coming from him through commissions and some variant covers (old commissions) that Marvel publishes, so there's always new material to see from our dear "uncle" George.

I hope you all are doing ok in the middle of this pandemic. Take care.

Love.
Sebastián.

"My brother and my first EVER collaboration!"

"As some of you may know, my brother David had asked me to do some illustrations for his upcoming memoirs called WOW!. Well, it looks like our first collaboration EVER is finally going to be a reality."

"Now, mind you, this is not a comic or a graphic novel and my illustrations are limited to a limited few (due to my busy schedule and David's desire not too impinge on it) and far simpler than you may be accustomed to (I needed to reflect th ...e POV of pre-teen boy), but if you'd like to see the world of my youth through the unique perspective of the baby brother who shared most of it, then, you might like to at least check out this link.
I am so hoping to be able to sign a few copies of this book at future conventions. I know our Mom and Dad are very proud that their two boys are finally playing in the same sandbox again."

100 Top Artists Assemble for Hero Initiative's Next "Marvel 100" Project

100 Top Artists Assemble for Hero Initiative's Next "Marvel 100" Project

Over the last three years, The Hero Initiative, a charity dedicated to helping older comic creators in medical or financial need, has enlisted the aid of 100 top-flight artists to create The Ultimate Spider-Man #100 Project, The Hulk 100 Project, and the Wolverine: Weapon X 100 Project --collections of 100 original covers featuring great Marvel characters. This year, The Hero Initiative reprises the program with Marvel's premier super hero team.

The call has gone out to create The New Avengers 100 Project, and dozens of artists are putting pen to paper. Marvel Comics has generously donated 100 blank-covered cardstock copies of New Avengers #1 to Hero, with artists involved including well-known stars such as Howard Chaykin, Ian Churchill, Mike Deodato, Terry Dodson, Steve Epting, Dave Gibbons, Adam Kubert and more.

"Every year, these projects get me back to the drawing board to work on some of my favorite characters," said Hero Initiative Board member and longtime Marvel artist John Romita. "We have a great lineup of artists slated, and it's even more fun for me to see the great covers come in than it is to draw my own!"

"Taking the hottest franchise in comics—the Avengers—and combining it with the top talent in the industry is a win all around.."

"Games", finally a go?

It's been a strong rumour for a time, but now Dan Didio confirms that it's at least more than a desire that "Games", the long postponed Titans' graphic novel project will finally see print next year.

Okay – that’s an issue we could most likely go on and on about forever, but in the interest of time, let’s try to end on an up note...something that was brought up on the thread – a reader said that George Perez had dropped hints that the long-delayed New Teen Titans graphic novel, Games had been the go-ahead for completion. Has that happened, and is George back working on it?

DD: It’s back on the table again. One of the reasons we’re looking at it, like we’re looking at a number of projects involving the Teen Titans next year because we’ll be celebrating an anniversary for the Teen Titans.

But yeah, now that George is o close to wrapping up Legion of 3 Worlds, we’re looking at a number of projects for him that will be his next priority.

source: Newsarama

It's also been hinted several times these past months that George will be working on something big... maybe some kind of "Crisis" big? A while ago, Pérez said that finishing "Games" wasn't a priotity no more. But now, it's back on the list "to do". It's all about time.

George Pérez' favorite covers on Wizard

Issue #211 of Wizard features George making his picks. Wich are...

Wonderful choices. Great artists all of them: Jack Kirby, Jim Steranko, Nick Cardy, Barry Windsor Smith, Gil Kane, Mike Sekowsky and Neal Adams.
You can see George's apetite for crowded covers on the Fantastic Four Annual #3. Or his kind of detail love on Conan #24.

I'm not sure if it's allright to post the whole article, my gut says no, so I'll just post the covers. If time goes on and Wizard don't, I will.

Newsarama Interview

A very healthy George... Nice, GP!

A little excerpt of the Newsarama interview with George...

NRAMA: What sorts of projects are you working on in the near future?

GP: Ah, I wish I could tell you.

NRAMA: Anything epic?

GP: Yes, those were the exact words that Dan DiDio said to me when he was describing the project. He said, “We’d be foolish not to have George on something epic.” That’s just one of three projects that I may or may not be working on in 2010. Again, I say 2010 because of the time sensitive nature of the project—it’ll have to be done around 2010 because of the event planned for 2010 that they’d like me to be involved in.

Pérez' interview at Newsarama

With ocassion of the announcement of Legion of 3 Worlds, Newsarama has interviewed mighty George. Right here, pals.

And... a little taste:

NRAMA: Now that you've gotten started on the story, are you enjoying finally getting to draw the Legion, George?

GP: I'm having the time of my life. It's a lot of work. I'm spending a lot of long hours on this book. But again, as I've told you more than once and anyone within earshot, I've always wanted to do the Legion, and it's criminal that I haven't. And finally -- finally -- justice is being served, as only a superhero comic can bring it.

George Pérez' new gig confirmed: Legion of 3 Worlds!!!

Finally, the rumors had come true! George's new work has been confirmed in Action Comics #863 (last part of "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes!" arc), it's Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds!

George's wonderful art will join super hot writer Geoff Johns (Action Comics, JSA, Green Lantern) in this mini-series, a tie-in with DC's Final Crisis, with beginning in August.

Here's a brief of a Newsarama's interview with Johns:

NRAMA: What's it been like, working with George Perez?

GJ: The best thing about working with George is all the stuff he brings to it. Usually, I have to meticulously list every freaking detail and research it and scan it and put it all in there, just to make sure it's done right when I have something this big. But with George, I put all that stuff in there, but he goes another step beyond. The opening sequence is just insane. It's a Superman fan's dream. And every time I get a page, I just pour over it. The amount of detail he's putting in there, the amount of extra work, the amount of things he's adding I'm like, "There is a god. His name is George Perez." But it's all related to story. He's really thinking on story -- what's important to the characters and their emotional states, their conflicts, their relationships. He's just a brilliant storyteller.

And a little of Comic Book Resources:

“It’s a dream to work with George, especially on Legion of Super-Heroes,” Johns continued. “And I think the title, ‘Legion of Three Worlds,’ says it all. We are going to have a ton of characters in this, so only someone as insane as George is going to tackle this. George has had a lifelong dream to work on the Legion. And I have had a lifelong dream to work with George. And I love the Legion of Super-Heroes, obviously.
