Newsarama Interview

A very healthy George... Nice, GP!

A little excerpt of the Newsarama interview with George...

NRAMA: What sorts of projects are you working on in the near future?

GP: Ah, I wish I could tell you.

NRAMA: Anything epic?

GP: Yes, those were the exact words that Dan DiDio said to me when he was describing the project. He said, “We’d be foolish not to have George on something epic.” That’s just one of three projects that I may or may not be working on in 2010. Again, I say 2010 because of the time sensitive nature of the project—it’ll have to be done around 2010 because of the event planned for 2010 that they’d like me to be involved in.

George Pérez video interview at Newsarama

Newsarama's Alex Zalben and Justin Tyler talk with legendary illustrator/writer George Perez about stylistic drawing in comics

George Pérez at The Pulse

With the inminent release of the first number of Legion of Three Worlds, The Pulse published an interview with Pérez.

"I like to know the individual character from the inside out instead of just drawing superficial body types. When I'm drawing reaction shots, I want to know these characters, and have a sense of how each would truly react to the situations. It helps me stay in the story and tell the story."

"[Editor] Eddie [Berganza] told me he's surprised with three versions of the Legion that I'm trying to give each of them a sense of distinction," Perez continued. "I take the challenge of three Legions and making all the alternate dimension characters -- like three Cosmic Boys -- different, stylized characters. I didn't want them to appear as the same character at different ages -- like a dual role type thing. I didn't want it to be like the Mirror, Mirror episode of Star Trek, where there were doppelgangers played by the same actors."

Perez said, "When I was working on the different eras of the Legion, I would evoke the artists who were the most established ones at that point in time. These three versions of the Legion are very different, especially the current one. Barry Kitson and Francis Manapul are totally different artists, so distinctly different that I had to find a middle ground to make this 'present' version of the Legion diverse."

More Pérez at Newsarama!

This time, focusing in comment the Legion of 3 Worlds image teaser where The Legions fight.

As always, a little sneak:

NRAMA: There's just so much detail. It's really fun to look at.

GP: I had a great time on it. And I'm having a great time on this whole series, really. I've been wanting to do the Legion for so long, and now I get to do it, so I can't complain. And I can already tell it's going to be a lot of fun. This teaser image just proves it

Pérez' interview at Newsarama

With ocassion of the announcement of Legion of 3 Worlds, Newsarama has interviewed mighty George. Right here, pals.

And... a little taste:

NRAMA: Now that you've gotten started on the story, are you enjoying finally getting to draw the Legion, George?

GP: I'm having the time of my life. It's a lot of work. I'm spending a lot of long hours on this book. But again, as I've told you more than once and anyone within earshot, I've always wanted to do the Legion, and it's criminal that I haven't. And finally -- finally -- justice is being served, as only a superhero comic can bring it.

George Pérez' new gig confirmed: Legion of 3 Worlds!!!

Finally, the rumors had come true! George's new work has been confirmed in Action Comics #863 (last part of "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes!" arc), it's Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds!

George's wonderful art will join super hot writer Geoff Johns (Action Comics, JSA, Green Lantern) in this mini-series, a tie-in with DC's Final Crisis, with beginning in August.

Here's a brief of a Newsarama's interview with Johns:

NRAMA: What's it been like, working with George Perez?

GJ: The best thing about working with George is all the stuff he brings to it. Usually, I have to meticulously list every freaking detail and research it and scan it and put it all in there, just to make sure it's done right when I have something this big. But with George, I put all that stuff in there, but he goes another step beyond. The opening sequence is just insane. It's a Superman fan's dream. And every time I get a page, I just pour over it. The amount of detail he's putting in there, the amount of extra work, the amount of things he's adding I'm like, "There is a god. His name is George Perez." But it's all related to story. He's really thinking on story -- what's important to the characters and their emotional states, their conflicts, their relationships. He's just a brilliant storyteller.

And a little of Comic Book Resources:

“It’s a dream to work with George, especially on Legion of Super-Heroes,” Johns continued. “And I think the title, ‘Legion of Three Worlds,’ says it all. We are going to have a ton of characters in this, so only someone as insane as George is going to tackle this. George has had a lifelong dream to work on the Legion. And I have had a lifelong dream to work with George. And I love the Legion of Super-Heroes, obviously.

Perez leaves Brave & The Bold

Surprisingly, in an interview of newsarama with Jerry Ordway, it's mentioned that George Pérez won't be resuming his art chores on Brave & The Bold, and is now dedicated to a new project.

NRAMA: Any idea what George Pérez is going to be working on that forced him to leave the title a couple issues earlier than he'd planned?

JO: Nope, no idea what George has on his plate. I know he wanted to finish out the storyline, but I'm glad I got the assignment all the same.

Where George's work will appear is yet to be announced.

I really really hope it's got something to be with his public wish on doing something with the Legion of Super-heroes... Final Crisis will do, too.

Heck, it's George!!!, I know I'm gonna be interested whatever it is :)

Here it is: all the George Pérez' interviews (until 2007. From now on, whenever they come out) on 'net that I could collect through a vast search on Google.
